Love is in the Air

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, coming up on Wednesday, February 14th. There are many ways students like to celebrate this holiday with, or without, that special someone!
“My boyfriend and I are going on a fun escape room date at Enchambered Sacramento Escape Room,” said senior Ellie Dawson. This is just one of many great options.
Senior Sarena Solodoff and her boyfriend are going to a concert. “We’re going to see Joywave in San Francisco. They brought us together when we were getting to know each other, so it’s really nice to be able to see them on such a romantic day,” said Solodoff.
Senior Santiago Nouvet is not currently in a relationship because he does not believe in monogamy due to ideals he learned from reading The Brave New World by Aldous Huxley in Ms. Gist’s class. However, that will not stop him from celebrating the day. “This Valentine’s Day I’m going go to movies with my mom. Valentine’s Day can be a sad time for some people, so I wanted to surprise her with a nice mother-son outing,” said Nouvet.
Some more fun date ideas include taking a relaxing stroll in the arboretum, getting a nice meal downtown, and going to the Farmer’s Market for some shopping and some entertainment.
Valentine’s Day is also a time where people like to give gifts to show their affection. Some gift ideas include the classics like chocolates, flowers, and a sentimental card. For some creative ideas, try collaging photos taken over time and creating a heartfelt display, or making a mock coupon book with coupons like ‘1 free hug’ or ‘favorite home cooked meal’.
No matter what your relationship status is, or what your budget is Valentine’s Day is for everyone. This Wednesday, make sure you tell the people you love that you love them, and think creatively about your gifts!
